Eats AND Treats – Raising Funds with Fun for The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation
The inaugural Eats & Treats Moonlight Market will be held on Friday the 29th October, 2010 at the historic and charming North Carlton restaurant, Birdie Num Nums (745 Nicholson Street, North Carlton). The market is the brainchild of two local mothers, Tara Ralph and Felicity Thomlinson, founders of children’s clothing brand iggle & boo. It will raise much-needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation in Melbourne.
The spacious rear courtyard of the restaurant will be transformed into a bustling market for the evening and there will be entertainment for children. Market entry is free, and an Eats & Treats dinner and drink package is available for just $25, which includes six delicious canapés and drink. Fundraising for the RCH Foundation will be via raffles, collection tins, with each stallholder also donating a portion of all proceeds from the evening.
The market stallholders have been carefully selected, and consist of local designers and businesses with a range of gorgeous wares including jewellery, bags, books, children’s clothing, hats, stationery, candles and more.
Felicity Thomlinson, the organiser of the market, said “As a mother, it is a terrific opportunity for us to support such a vital institution, and to create a new market in the vibrant Inner North. We really wanted to develop an event for the local community to engage with emerging local designers, experience great food and contribute to the “Children’s”. The staff at Birdie Num Nums have been incredibly professional and will undoubtedly help us deliver a very special evening.”
The restaurant is in the very capable hands of highly regarded industry professionals Nathania Pearson (General Manager) and Sam Coady (Head Chef). The recently revamped menu draws on the expertise and experience this pair has gained from the iconic restaurants where they have developed their exceptional reputation.
Local mothers’ groups, friends & family will enjoy to this intimate and family friendly market. It will be a great event for the local community to get together and for like-minded families to enjoy a fun-filled evening.
