” Last night Dames & Divas attended the first Eats & Treats Moonlight Market at Birdie Num Nums in Carlton North.

Organised by the beautiful Tara & Felicity of Iggle & Boo the evening was filled with amazing food, fabulous people and gorgeous products.

Customers were able to peruse the market stalls with vino and canapés in hand and then mingle in the stunning courtyard.

The weather was fantastic!  A balmy 29 degrees for most of the night!

With funds raised for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation what better way to spend a Friday evening.

Eats AND Treats – Raising Funds with Fun for The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation

The inaugural Eats & Treats Moonlight Market will be held on Friday the 29th October, 2010 at the historic and charming North Carlton restaurant, Birdie Num Nums (745 Nicholson Street, North Carlton). The market is the brainchild of two local mothers, Tara Ralph and Felicity Thomlinson, founders of children’s clothing brand iggle & boo. It will raise much-needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation in Melbourne.

The spacious rear courtyard of the restaurant will be transformed into a bustling market for the evening and there will be entertainment for children. Market entry is free, and an Eats & Treats dinner and drink package is available for just $25, which includes six delicious canapés and drink. Fundraising for the RCH Foundation will be via raffles, collection tins, with each stallholder also donating a portion of all proceeds from the evening.

The market stallholders have been carefully selected, and consist of local designers and businesses with a range of gorgeous wares including jewellery, bags, books, children’s clothing, hats, stationery, candles and more.

Felicity Thomlinson, the organiser of the market, said “As a mother, it is a terrific opportunity for us to support such a vital institution, and to create a new market in the vibrant Inner North. We really wanted to develop an event for the local community to engage with emerging local designers, experience great food and contribute to the “Children’s”. The staff at Birdie Num Nums have been incredibly professional and will undoubtedly help us deliver a very special evening.”

The restaurant is in the very capable hands of highly regarded industry professionals Nathania Pearson (General Manager) and Sam Coady (Head Chef). The recently revamped menu draws on the expertise and experience this pair has gained from the iconic restaurants where they have developed their exceptional reputation.

Local mothers’ groups, friends & family will enjoy to this intimate and family friendly market. It will be a great event for the local community to get together and for like-minded families to enjoy a fun-filled evening.

Prior to having children Tara Ralph and Felicity Thomlinson didn’t know each other, but soon after the birth of their first children they happened to buy houses right next door! Now the dynamic duo has combined their skills to create the gorgeous iggle & boo brand. The families have become great friends and the children are the inspiration for the divine clothing label – their nicknames are Iggle and Boo!

Tara’s first-hand experience in the children’s clothing retail industry has given them a greater understanding of the untapped niches in the marketplace. Felicity completes the package bringing her design skills from her Visual Merchandising and Marketing background to successfully develop the iggle & boo label. They have also been fortunate to have the encouragement of many local families and businesses who love to support Melbourne and Australian designers.

Once the determined pair decided what they wanted to create, they put their creative hats on, knocked on doors, phoned people, pulled out the sewing machine and designed an entire range of everyday wear in classic colours and styles.

They did some initial testing at markets and have now designed a more comprehensive range due out in September that is perfectly gorgeous but practical for kids to wear every day. Their favourite garment of all is the unisex jeans – Strut & Stomp – that are made of such high quality denim that will last and last. In fact they are so confident of the quality that they are offering a denim recycling program …. stay tuned, these girls have big plans for the iggle &  boo children’s clothing brand!

We had many many comments about our unisex jeans samples which we had on show. We are very excited at iggle & boo as the final samples are now correct so we are just waiting on production now.
